Bahtera Adi Jaya has officially obtained Halal certification for its operational and distribution activities. This certification marks an important milestone for the company in ensuring that its entire chemical raw material supply chain complies with the Halal Product Assurance System (SJPH) as regulated by the Indonesian government.
The certification is the result of an internal adjustment process that began in early 2024, in response to growing compliance requirements from both the industry and government authorities overseeing raw materials and supporting products circulating in the domestic market.
Regulatory Context and Legal Basis
The Indonesian government, through a policy enacted in October 2024, requires all products and materials used in the cosmetics, personal care, and food & beverage (F&B) industries to be Halal-certified no later than 2026.
This requirement extends beyond finished products and includes all facilities and infrastructure that support production and distribution processes, such as equipment, transport trucks, storage warehouses, and raw materials used at every stage.
This initiative is part of the implementation of Undang-Undang Nomor 33 Tahun 2014 on Halal Product Assurance, which stipulates that every product traded and distributed in Indonesia must be Halal-certified. The regulation aims to provide legal certainty, protect consumers, and enhance transparency within the industry.
Responding to Industry and Regulatory Demands
Janto, Operational General Manager Bahtera Adi Jaya, stated that the company took this step as a direct response to shifting regulations and growing client demands.
“There’s demand from customers, from the industry, and also from government compliance. Next year, all cosmetic and F&B products must be Halal-certified — every piece of equipment, every truck, every supporting warehouse as well, according to the law.
We want to support our customers so they can easily comply with Indonesia’s regulations. Bahtera aims to be a one-stop service that helps customers holistically,” said Janto.
According to him, Halal certification represents more than just administrative compliance; it ensures that Bahtera’s customers can align more efficiently with the tightening regulatory landscape.
By securing a certified supply chain, clients gain a stronger foundation for meeting national Halal standards without having to rebuild compliance structures from scratch.
Implications for Operations and Business Partners
With the Halal certification now in place, all of Bahtera’s operational processes — from inbound material handling and storage to distribution — are officially aligned with the standards set by Indonesia’s Halal Product Assurance Organizing Agency (BPJPH).
The implementation covers raw material monitoring, cross-contamination control, hygiene standards, and proper handling procedures throughout the distribution process.
This achievement has two key implications:
Regulatory Assurance for Industry Partners
Bahtera’s clients, especially within the cosmetics and F&B sectors, can now ensure that the materials they use originate from a supply chain compliant with national Halal requirements.
This helps accelerate their own certification processes at the manufacturing level.
Efficiency and Supply Chain Transparency
With an integrated Halal assurance system, Bahtera can offer greater visibility into the origin, storage, and movement of materials — providing complete documentation and auditable compliance records for its partners.
Strategic Steps Toward 2026
Bahtera has prepared a series of follow-up initiatives to ensure consistent implementation of the Halal system across all operational lines, including:
Regular internal audits to verify ongoing compliance with SJPH practices.
Staff and logistics partner training on Halal material handling procedures.
Enhanced documentation and tracking systems to maintain supply chain transparency.
Client assistance programs for companies preparing their own Halal certification ahead of the 2026 national deadline.
Through these measures, Bahtera aims to ensure that all stakeholders within its distribution network — including customers, vendors, and logistics providers — meet the government’s compliance targets on schedule. Find your solutions with Bahtera here.
