In recent years, many educational institutions have come to realize that social engagement can’t just be a classroom discussion. Real-world, hands-on experiences are essential to help students, alumni, and campus communities understand what it means to contribute meaningfully to society.

One initiative that brought this to life was the BINUSIAN Fun Run 2025, held on Sunday, July 6, 2025, at the BINUS University Alam Sutera campus.

This event wasn’t just about running—it was designed as a platform to build awareness around environmental issues, strengthen community ties within the BINUS network, and show tangible support for marginalized groups, especially children with disabilities.

Raising Social and Environmental Awareness

More than just a fun run, this event embodied the philosophy of "Empowering Society, Building the Nation." The message was clear: nation-building isn’t only about technological breakthroughs or academic excellence—it also demands social responsibility and active participation in humanitarian causes.

Bringing together students, alumni, faculty, staff, and their families, BINUSIAN Fun Run created a cross-generational space where collective action and shared responsibility could thrive.

The event also marked the start of a meaningful collaboration between IKA BINUS (BINUS Alumni Association) and Yayasan Sayap Ibu Banten, a nonprofit that has long focused on supporting children with severe disabilities.

Introducing Yayasan Sayap Ibu Banten

A key focus of the event was spotlighting Yayasan Sayap Ibu (YSI) Banten, a social foundation that, since 2005, has cared for and educated over 480 children with various disabilities.

Of that number, 36 children live full-time in the orphanage due to the absence of family, while the rest, who come from underprivileged households, continue to live with their families thanks to support from the foundation.

These children face a wide range of challenges—hydrocephalus, Down syndrome, cerebral palsy, autism, and others. Operating costs for YSI are substantial, with much of the funding coming from private donations. Sustaining their services is only possible with continued public awareness and support.

The BINUSIAN Fun Run provided a tangible avenue for such support, with both donations and the accompanying Fun Walk serving as meaningful ways to boost YSI’s operations and mission.

Bahtera’s Role: Supporting Positive Action Through Interactive Engagement

Bahtera Adi Jaya, a distributor of raw materials for cosmetics, pharmaceuticals, and food and beverage industries, joined the event as an official sponsor.

This involvement aligns closely with Bahtera’s long-standing commitment to social and environmental issues—not just in principle, but in practice.

As part of the event, Bahtera set up an interactive booth, designed as both an educational space and a light-hearted engagement zone. This activation was a collaborative effort between the Marketing Communication team and the Food & Beverages (F&B) business unit.

Booth Highlights:

  1. Free Workout Drinks
Crafted in-house by Bahtera’s F&B team, these drinks featured functional ingredients the company actively distributes for food applications. Beyond refreshment, the booth offered a low-key introduction to how these ingredients can support innovation in the F&B industry.
  2. “Dice of Fate” Game
Participants rolled an oversized die to win prizes based on the number rolled—from exclusive Bahtera merchandise to shopping vouchers. This simple activity became a highly effective way to foster relaxed, genuine interaction between Bahtera and the BINUSIAN community.

With over 400 direct interactions recorded throughout the event, it was clear that the booth succeeded in offering more than just giveaways—it created a shared experience that left a lasting impression.

One Step at a Time: A Campaign for Steady Change

Bahtera’s involvement in the BINUSIAN Fun Run was also part of its broader digital campaign, "One Step at a Time," currently live on Instagram (@ptbahteraadijaya).

The campaign emphasizes that meaningful change—social, environmental, or otherwise—doesn’t always require a giant leap. Sometimes, it’s the small, steady steps taken consistently and collectively that drive the biggest impact.

With the message "Let’s empower, one step at a time," the campaign promotes a spirit of collaboration and quiet determination. In the context of BINUSIAN Fun Run, that message felt right at home.

Looking Ahead: Open to Collaboration

Bahtera’s participation in the BINUSIAN Fun Run 2025 was more than a one-off gesture. It reflects the company’s broader commitment to long-term involvement in sustainability and community-focused initiatives.

Bahtera welcomes collaboration with educational institutions, social organizations, and civil society groups who share the vision of building a more inclusive and sustainable Indonesia.
