On Tuesday, June 24, 2025, Bahtera Adi Jaya collaborated with Soegijapranata Catholic University in Semarang, Indonesia, to host an inspiring seminar titled “Inspire, Explore, Achieve: Career Prospect in Food Technology.” As part of the company’s Bahtera Goes to Campus initiative, this event created a platform where industry and academia came together to exchange ideas, share experiences, and empower the next generation of food technology professionals.
Held at Ruang Kaca, Ground Floor of the Fransiskus Asisi Building, the event brought together 104 participants, including students and faculty members from the Department of Food Technology, Faculty of Agricultural Technology.
Bridging the Gap Between Classrooms and Careers
The event was part of Bahtera’s ongoing effort to bridge the gap between academic knowledge and real-world application. By engaging directly with students on campus, Bahtera aims to provide exposure to the actual workings of the food and beverage industry—from product development to client relations, innovation, and technical support.
With full support from the university, including organizing committees, talent curation, and ensuring active student participation, this initiative marked another successful example of how companies can collaborate with educational institutions to strengthen Indonesia’s talent pipeline.
Stories, Insights, and Lessons from Industry Practitioners
The highlight of the session came in the form of dynamic presentations and storytelling from four Bahtera team members, all of whom shared different perspectives on what it means to build a career in the food and beverage sector. Their insights offered students a real-world glimpse into the many paths they could take within the industry.
- Donna Friska Sihombing, Business Unit Manager Food & Beverage, opened the session by introducing Bahtera Adi Jaya and the role of its F&B unit in supporting Indonesia’s food and beverage industries.
- Theresia Desy Puspita Sari, Technical Sales Industrial Solution West, shared her experiences connecting client needs with technical solutions. She also delivered a personal touch—being an alumna of the very same university.
- Mega Perdana, Marketing Development Specialist Food & Beverage, walked students through the life of an R&D professional—from testing active ingredients to developing ready-to-launch products.
- Muhamad Rizky Nurul Huda, Technical Sales Food & Beverage West, wrapped up with an energetic call for innovation. He encouraged students to spot opportunities and turn ideas into practical solutions with real value.
Each speaker brought a unique perspective, illustrating the multifaceted opportunities available in the food industry for graduates with a strong foundation in food science and technology.
Learning by Doing: A Hands-On Lab Session
More than just a seminar, Bahtera Goes to Campus also featured an engaging Lab Session, giving students a closer look at how active ingredients are applied in food products. This session allowed participants to witness first-hand how functional ingredients behave in formulation—how they are processed, applied, and ultimately how they contribute to the quality and stability of finished products.
By observing this demonstration, students were able to connect classroom theory with real-world practice, making the learning experience even more impactful and memorable.
Shaping the Next Generation of Food Professionals
Bahtera Goes to Campus serves as a tangible expression of Bahtera Adi Jaya’s commitment to closing the gap between academic theory and industrial practice. Through initiatives like this, Bahtera hopes to better equip students to take on the challenges of the job market—and inspire them to pursue impactful careers in the fast-evolving food industry.
