5min read

Bahtera is excited to welcome BASF’s plan to establish a new Uvinul® A Plus production plant in China. Such as photostable UVA filter, Uvinul® A Plus offers protection from free radicals and skin damage. Providing high efficiency at low concentration and free of preservatives. Thus, it is the ideal ingredient for long-lasting sun care and anti-aging.

Moreover with rising demands for UV protection in Asia, including Indonesia, Bahtera welcomes this plan as an excellent move forward. This plant will allow for more secure supply in the region to meet the need of a growing Personal Care and Aroma (PCA) industry in Indonesia. Among the many beauty trends that are growing in the country, UV Filter is one of the most coveted ones, courtesy of the many beauty influencers and local brands.

Today, Uvinul® A Plus is produced in BASF’s plant in Ludwigshafen, Germany. Expanding its production to Asia, BASF is planning to establish a plant at the Care Chemicals Jinshan site in China. With annual capacity of 1,500 metric tons. Further adding to the wide range of UV filters. It is already produces at its Care Chemicals production site in Kaohsiung, Taiwan, mainly producing emollients and specialty PCA cosurfactants.

The site has been certified European Federation for Cosmetic Ingredients Good Manufacturing Practice (EFfCI GMP), Roundtable Sustainable Palm Oil (RSPO). The new plant is expecting to go live in early 2023.
