In shrimp farming, maintaining pond productivity is not only about achieving good growth performance, but also about continuously monitoring and managing shrimp health throughout the culture cycle. Various disease challenges in the field make it important for farmers to understand shrimp conditions, recognize early signs, and implement appropriate management strategies. 

To discuss these challenges, PT Bahtera Adi Jaya, together with Aquarev and Adisseo, held Free Webinar 2.0 on Thursday, September 10, 2026, with the theme “Shrimp Disease Management: Strategies for Maintaining Pond Productivity.” Held online via Zoom, the webinar provided a platform for participants to gain insights into current shrimp health challenges and approaches to managing them. 

Understanding Diseases and Challenges in the Field 

The first session was delivered by Aliefiami Rumi, S.Pi, Aquaculture Technical Expert at Aquarev. In this session, participants were introduced to various diseases and shrimp health issues currently encountered in the field. 

The discussion focused not only on identifying diseases, but also on recognizing early signs that need attention throughout the culture cycle. Understanding shrimp conditions and changes occurring in the pond is an important step in identifying potential problems at an early stage. 

Through the discussion on early detection and monitoring, participants gained insights into the importance of regularly observing both shrimp and pond conditions. Early identification of changes can provide a basis for determining the appropriate next steps. 

The session also covered prevention and biosecurity as important components of shrimp health management. Maintaining pond conditions and consistently implementing preventive measures are essential parts of managing potential health challenges during the culture cycle. 

Farming Alongside Disease Challenges 

Following the discussion on disease identification and field conditions, the second session was delivered by Martha Mamora, Farm Application Manager – Aquaculture APAC/ISC at Adisseo. 

Martha presented “Farming Alongside the Presence of Disease Agents (AHPND–WMD) / Microsporidia (EHP) and Oxidative Stress.” 

The session explored how shrimp farming needs to be managed while taking into consideration various health challenges that may occur throughout the culture cycle. In addition to disease agents such as AHPND, WMD, and EHP, oxidative stress was also discussed as an aspect that needs to be considered in shrimp health management. 

Introducing Adisseo’s Program Solutions 

During the session, Adisseo also introduced its program solutions, consisting of several solutions with different functions to support shrimp needs throughout the culture process. 

Bactinil, a synergistic blend of organic acids, was introduced as one of the solutions within the program. Meanwhile, Sanacore GM supports shrimp health management, including suppressing the proliferation of EHP spores inside shrimp, killing Vibrio, and stopping Quorum Sensing. 

Lipogest supports fat digestion to help provide energy, meet cholesterol requirements, and support molting stimulation. Aqualyso STD supports cell wall formation and recovery, while also helping the intestine digest feed and absorb nutrients. 

For other aspects of shrimp health, Selisseo supports immune response and shrimp muscle strength in relation to WMD. Meanwhile, Pepsea S provides peptides in an easily digestible form and supports cell recovery and antibacterial peptide activity. 

From Disease Recognition to Management Strategies 

The sessions delivered by Aquarev and Adisseo provided complementary perspectives, starting with understanding diseases and health challenges encountered in the field, recognizing early signs through detection and monitoring, and exploring approaches to managing various shrimp health challenges. 

The discussions highlighted that disease management is a comprehensive process. Prevention, biosecurity, monitoring, early detection, management, and recovery are interconnected aspects of maintaining shrimp health throughout the culture cycle. 

Through this collaboration between Bahtera Adi Jaya, Aquarev, and Adisseo, the webinar provided additional insights for aquaculture professionals in understanding shrimp health challenges and exploring approaches that can be considered according to field conditions.
